About Us...

How we Met by Erin:
I met Tanner on the first day of school my freshman year down at Southern Utah University. I was friends with his cousin Palmer and they lived together at the same apartment. Tanner and I found out that we were taking the same math and he asked if I could help him with his homework. I had a "missionary" so I was not interested at all in dating at that time. So when Tanner called me to help him with his homework, I agreed just because I thought explaining the math to someone else would help me understand it better as well. Strictly business. Well it was a little frustrating for me because every time we were supposed to "study" together he would just want to talk and hang out, and he wasn't doing very well in his math class! I continued spending time with his cousin and I remember Tanner would always try to hang out with us. I remember sometimes Tanner would come home from school and Palmer and I would pretend like we were asleep so he wouldn't bother us! Tanner is kind of a quiet guy, but after i got to know him more i discovered that he had a really funny and random sense of humor and could make me laugh whenever he wanted. I also noticed how he respected girls and had a solid testimony of the church. As i spent more time around Tanner i grew to like him more and more. I didn't want to like Tanner and fought it as hard as i could, but i realized i was slowly falling for him. Now he is the love of my life and I'm so excited to spend the rest of my life with him!

First Date by Tanner:

Fall semester 2005 at SUU was my first semester back to college since I had returned home from my mission. I somehow managed to convince my cousin Palmer to move to Cedar City and room with me at school. One day after school he told me there was this awesome girl that he knew from back home that dated his friend before he left on his mission. A couple of days later this girl that Palmer spoke of came over and it was the first time I met Erin. My first impression was that she was a beautiful girl that seemed really cool. So I made it my goal to get to know her better every chance I got. As we got to know each other, I found out she was taking the same math as me, but in a different class. Trying to be smooth I told her we should study together and got her phone number. We studied some math together except she mostly was teaching me, I just couldn't manage to grasp college algebra, but she made math a lot more fun. Erin and Palmer became pretty good friends and she would come over to my apartment quite often. Every time she came over I would try and hang out with them as much as possible. As time passed Erin and I were becoming really good friends and started spending time with her more and more without Palmer. We had fun doing all kinds of things together like longboarding. One late night around 12 am Erin and I decided to go longboarding down a hill by my house. I didn't realize how poor of judgment I had at 12 am and in the dark so as I rode down the hill I really began to pick up some speed. Eventually I lost control and crashed on the rough pavement. Luckily, Erin was prepared and had a first aid kit in her car so she patched up my wounds. Finally, after all of the hanging out and just being friends for a month I decided to ask her out on a date. We went to my families house in Parowan and decided to go on a four wheeler ride. So we went for a ride to the P hill. It was a nice night and we had an awesome view of Parowan from the top of the hill. We chilled up on the hill and talked for a while. The whole time Erin thought I was going to try and put the moves on her, but that wasn't my style to do that on the first date. We later went out to dinner and after eating we decided to go to this huge park called Park Discovery. There we walked around, talked and I pushed her on the swing. Erin suggested we should then play hide and go seek. So she hid and I looked all over the place and couldn't find her. She was too good at hiding and won that round. Next, it was my turn to hide, so I was determined to hide just as good. As time passed Erin never did find me. Eventually I could hear her voice and talking with another man, I thought that was weird so I came out of my hiding place. It turns out Erin was getting busted by the cops for being at the park past dark. We were lucky the cop was nice enough to just warn us and tell us to leave so nothing happened. We had a fun first date which led to many more dates, almost four years of dating to be exact. Now we're engaged and will be married in the Salt Lake City temple on August 15th.
